Planet Youth Mississauga is Born

Erin Mills Connects and The Dam are together implementing the first stage of the unique Icelandic Prevention Model (IPM) in Mississauga. They were chosen by the Public Health Agency of Canada to join six other groups across Canada for Stream 1 of the implementation plan. Until August 2025, The Dam and EMC will build community coalitions and develop deeper connections with school communities in preparation to move to Stream 2 to collect information about youth substance use and protective factors. The Minister of Mental Health and Addictions and Associate Minister of Health Ya’ara Saks made the announcement in June in Nova Scotia. Minister of Mental Health and Addictions and Associate Minister of Health Ya’ara Saks announced an investment that includes $868,000 in funding for seven projects across British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Ontario and Nova Scotia to support the Canadian implementation and adaptation of the Icelandic Prevention Model (IPM).
